Assignment Goals:
There were actually multiple assignments revolving around using Pixlr E. We had three goals: 1. to learn how to use this platform through tutorials and Mr. Hazlet demonstrating to us to at least know the basics of editing using Pixlr E; 2. to familiarize ourselves with the different uses, functions, tools, and methods of what and how to edit on the creative we were working on; 3. to be able to use Pixlr E in real life situations outside of class and possibly the school to help us in our daily lives. We were given videos to follow along to ease us into using Pixlr E (so we could know how to use the platform, how the tools worked, what methods worked and could be used for future reference, and more), prompts that included real life situations where we would need to know how to edit, and gave us creative freedom to do or make whatever we wanted at the end of using Pixlr E as the last thing we needed to do.
Why I want to show this work:
I rather enjoyed these mini-projects, where we could unleash (or further develop in my case) our creative side and transform different photos, layers, and effects together to make something new! Editing was actually one of the things I really wanted to learn about in this class, as it always looked interesting and cool to be able to do.
21st century skills:
You probably wouldn't expect me to use this skill for Pixlr E: II. Communication Skills. It my seem like there's no communication at all; I mean, I'm alone on my computer, editing by myself. But the beauty of editing, just with any art, is that it's meant to be seen and shown to others, so that it could be appreciated. This is where the product of all my editing skills can "communicate" and make contact with it's onlookers and be appreciated while telling its story through all the pictures, images, effects, and other artsy components used. Of course, the product could be interpreted differently by different people, as they have their own perspectives and way of seeing things here, and that's the beauty of it: it tells a story to every it's witnesses.
Current Growth:
First and foremost, I was able to learn actual editing for the first time ever which was very cool. Although I may not remember all of the harder techniques taught later in the course, I'd think I would always know the basics of it where I was able to use editing in real life situations such as other assignments for my different classes.
New Growth:
I want to improve on absorbing more information from the lessons faster and better so that I could edit (and maybe even create) something more complicated, which would be nice because editing was always one of the coolest things for me!
