Assignment Goals:
For English class, we were previously assigned to make our own love poems using different forms of figurative language onto the same template as "Lemony Snicket’s Love Letter to Beatirice Baudelaire" (basically lets you fill up phrases after "I have loved you as/like ____", "I love you now/will love you more than ____, "I love you because ____,", or "I will love you even if ____"). But for this "mash-up" project, we were assigned in groups to combine the best parts of each of our poems to make one and make a slideshow to present our newly-made "Love Poem Mash-ups"!
Why I want to show this work:
I like modern poetry, where you can read about not just words people have put together, but the way it is placed, the emotions, and the variety of words you wouldn't think of, that fits so well together. And the end result of what we got from each of our poems was astounding! And, I'm not going to lie, I really like the asthetic part of our slideshow to really lift the standards of our slideshow. That is what I'm most proud of!
21st century skills:
As this is a group project, it is expected that we must work with one another for this to work out in our favor. Usually I only work well with people I'm familiar with, which means in this case, I shouldn't have. Despite this, I was to use IV. Interpersonal Skills to be respetful and positive still and work cooperatively. I believe I was able to do this, as our presentation went well, and encouraged me to reach out to them for them to do their parts while I do mine throughout this entire period. This goes to remind me that I shouldn't wait around for someone to take the lead (as that has been happening recently because I have reliable teammates), but to take the initiative as well when the time calls for it.
New Growth:
What was most dificult about this project was working as a group. Well, more of communicating with one another first of all, as none of us seemed keen to take on the leader role to get things done, but we were eventually able to work things out, and rewarded with a beautful combination of poems and beautiful slideshow to present it. The only thing I'd change is to be more confident first of all, so that it wouldn't have taken as long as it did just to finish this project.
